Active Life Circuits
Mondays (from 11th September) 9.30 to 10.30 am £3.40 per week
A low impact circuits session – some aerobics to warm up then a mix of stations to improve balance, strength and breathing. Chair options can be arranged for those unable to complete a full circuit. This was previously a GP referral session but is now open to all. The instructor will ask some questions when you begin and if there are any concerns may still recommend referral from a GP, please arrive at 9.20 on your first week.
Pilates
Mondays (from 11th September) 10.45 to 11.45 am £5.00 per week
Pilates for beginners. We can accommodate more experienced people but the focus will be on learning the correct techniques of breathing, muscle control, balance and learning the base moves correctly.
Useful if you have a long exercise mat of your own (but these are available to borrow), and bring a small towel to rest under the head if required, please arrive at 10.35 on your first week.
Tai Chi
Thursdays (from 14th September) 10.00 to 11.00 am (£4 per session or £28 for 8 week course
Tai Chi Yang Style classes. The training of this martial art will be structured in blocks of 8 classes, a recommended number for the learning and practicing of various sections of the series of movement known as ‘long form’. Students are advised to wear loose clothing and flat shoes.
The instructor, Cristina Mircescu, has learned and practiced the Yang style for over 6 years in Nottingham. After moving to Northumberland in 2012, she taught Tai Chi in Elsdon between 2013-2016.
Boot Camp
Thursdays (7th Sep to 26th Oct) 7.00 to 8.00 pm
Boot Camp with Denisa is back, everyone welcome for all abilities.
Badminton Instruction
Thursdays (2nd Nov to 7 th Dec) 7.00 to 8.00 pm – juniors and families / 8.00 to 9.00pm – adults (18 years plus)
Children (under 18) £3.50 per session or £18 for six week course
Adults £6 per session or £30 for six week course
Come and learn how to play badminton in this six week course with coach Vince Burini. You’ll learn the six badminton shots – serve, clear, forehand, backhand, dropshot and smash, as well as basic tactical play – in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Beginners and improvers all welcome. We recommend attending all six sessions if you can.
Minimum age for juniors and families session is 8 years. Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (playing or not playing).
Redesdale Youth Project
Tuesdays from September
Juniors age (9 to 13 years) – 6 to 7.30pm *
Come along to our fun packed sessions. We have a wide variety of activities including football, arts and crafts, cooking/baking, film nights, scavenger hunts and more. Plus tell us what you want to do!!
Teen lounge (13 to 19 years) – 8 to 9.30pm *
The teen lounge gives young people space to chill out. They will be able to
get time with friends and plan what they want. Supported by youth workers they will have a place just for them in the community.
*Please note our new times – age limits are not set in stone so young people may stay in the younger session if they wish. All activities run at RTC Centre on the day/times above (term-time only). Trips and other activities may be planned in the school holidays when funding is available
Gym
Our gym is available for members to use 24 hours a day seven days a week and offers a mix of CV equipment as well as fixed and free weights. Membership costs just £12.50 per month or £125 for 12 months up front. Sign up online at https://www.otterburngym.co.uk/
